California Misdemeanor traffic violations trial

Does anybody have any pointers for trial in a California Misdemeanor driving on a suspended License charge? I made my first appearance, challenged the courts Jurisdiction, and the magistrate type judge (not full judge) said the jurisdiction was under California Jurisdiction. He set the it for trial. I plan on challenging the Jurisdiction again and ask if there is an injured party. Any pointers would be helpful.
