EIN & Strawman Name

I was wondering if I need to obtain an EIN before filing my UCC Financing statement and if there is any reason why I shouldn't obtain one. Also, I'm curious about the name I should use and what the benefits and pitfalls of using a different name would be. My given name is Christopher but I have gone by Fuzz since I was less than a year old. It has served as a good distinction for certain things but I'm curious to know if it's actually a good idea to make it official or leave it as a nickname. Thank you for any advice you can offer.
