How can I secure my Home and other property

I own a home that is free and clear. How would I go about securing this property so that it stays in my family and does not get tangled into any lawsuit.

Currently, I am experiencing some financial issues and don't want the property draged into this since the house was free and clear prior to my financial woes.

Is it possible to lien my own property so that it does not become a focus. I have heard someone say that I should transfer it to a Trust, however, if I were to file for bankruptcy, would this appear as an illegal conveyance?

I recently became a SPC and want to know the best possible way for handling this situation apart from selling the property.
