Retire Notary Public Commission?

Hello! Newbie here working with Make Freedom / Sovereign Connection to expedite my SPC. I hold a notary public commission in the state of California. I've heard that in order to effectively / legally move from the public to the private as an SPC I may need to retire my notary public commission. Does anyone know defininitely if this is the case?
